About the Role

The Teacher's Aid is responsible for assisting the teacher in classroom duties and providing children with a fun, safe, stimulating, and educational environment. They will work under the direct supervision of the teacher.

Assist the teacher in classroom duties, including preparing materials, leading activities, and supervising children.

Escort or assist children going to the bathroom and supervise napping children.

Maintain a safe and sanitary classroom and equipment, including cleaning toys and equipment on a regular basis.

Set up classroom centers for maximum efficiency and usage, and ensure that work and play areas are clean and organized.

Update bulletin boards regularly, rotate toys and materials, and maintain inventory of supplies.

Keep closets and shelves in order, and lock up hazardous materials.

Follow the daily schedule of activities, including leading activities and games as appropriate.

Maintain attendance records daily, including tracking late arrivals and early departures.

Prepare, serve, and clean-up after meals, following all guidelines and procedures.

Maintain records of accidents and incidents, including reporting any issues to the Site Director.

Share any special instructions from parents with staff, and report any problems with students, parents, or staff to the Site Director.

Answer questions for parents, or refer questions to the Site Director as needed.

Attend scheduled staff meetings, and actively participate in discussions and planning.

Check children for illness, and report any symptoms or concerns to the teacher or Site Director.

Keep an accurate student count at all times, and ensure that each child leaves with a parent or authorized person.

Adhere to all licensing requirements, including maintaining required certifications.

Give notice if unable to work at scheduled times, and report arrival and departure times to the Site Director.

Work under the supervision of the Teacher in charge, and follow all policies and procedures of the Center.


  • Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.

  • Should have completed at least 6 ECE credits or

  • 2 completed units of ECE each semester following initial employment and continuation in a educational program until fully qualified.

  • Previous experience working with children preferred.

  • Good communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with children, parents, and staff.

  • Strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Willingness to learn and grow in the position.

  • Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
